ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 23, 2026     

 

  

ATHLETICS:  

  • Today is the 5-5A district track/field meet at Prairieville.  Good luck to all our athletes that will be participating today! 

  • Students, if you are interested in joining the tennis team, tryouts will be on Thursday, May 7th, 3-4:45pm at North Park Tennis Courts. You must bring a tennis racket and a completed physical to try out.  If you have any questions, please see Coach "V" in room 1108-A.  

  • Today, our Wildcat baseball team will start their playoff games with the best of 3 series... the Wildcats play Live Oak here at home today starting at 6pm. Since it is the playoffs, you must purchase a ticket, but the tickets are discounted for students.  Please come out and show your support to our Wildcats.


CONGRATULATIONS:

  • Congratulations to the Walker High Carpentry competition team for their 2nd place finish at the ABC pelican chapter Craftsman competition. Aaron Stern, Atlas Gillich, and Nixon Lara competed against multiple teams from Baton Rouge, Ascension, Livingston, and West Feliciana parishes. They were able to build a stellar picnic table as a 3-person team, with 30 minutes of time remaining in their 2-hour build, when all other schools had a 4-person team. Great job to this carpentry competition team. 


ALL STUDENTS:  

  • The Walker High School swim team will have a meeting on Friday for returning swimmers and students interested in joining the swimming Program. The meeting will be at 6 PM this Friday in the Cafeteria. For more information, pick up an information sheet at the annex. 

  • WHS Boys Soccer tryouts will be held on Wednesday, April 29th and Thursday, April 30th at Walker High School stadium from 6pm-7:30pm. Any student wishing to tryout can grab a signup form in the annex as well as get a physical prior to tryouts. 

  • Attention:  AP Students and MCJROTC Students - If you have met the eligibility criteria, you can order a letterman jacket on Friday.  AP students should see Mrs. Wade in room 1005 to pick up an order form.  MCJROTC should ask Lt. Col. Tubbs or First Sgt. Johnson for an order form. 

  • The next order for athletic letterman jackets will be on Friday, April 24th during lunch.  Order forms can be picked up from the Annex. All order forms must be pre-signed by your coach or the athletic director indicating that you lettered in your sport. If you have questions, you can stop by the Annex.


Students & Faculty: 

  • The Walker High Wind Ensemble will have a concert this Friday featuring special guest vocalists Mr. Mozingo and Mr. Baker.  The concert will be in the band building at 7 p.m. on Friday.  Come out and enjoy a great night of music.
