Announcements for April, 10, 2026

ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR FRIDAY, APRIL 10, 2026     

  

ATHLETICS:  

  • Congratulations to our Lady Cat golf team for their 1st Place finish in their match at Clark Park on Wednesday. Congratulations to Evelyn Artieta for earning Medalist honors for the match.  

  • Congratulations to our Lady Cats softball team for their win over Denham Springs yesterday.  Today the Lady Cats will play away at Doyle starting at 5pm.  

  • Also, congratulations to the varsity baseball team for their win over East Ascension yesterday.  They will also play away today at Doyle starting at 5pm. The JV team will play here at home against East Ascension starting at 6pm.  Tomorrow the varsity team will play at home against East Ascension starting at 2pm.  

  • The next order for athletic letterman jackets will be on Friday, April 24th during lunch.  Order forms can be picked up from the Annex. All order forms must be pre-signed by your coach or the athletic director indicating that you lettered in your sport. If you have questions, you can stop by the Annex.  

  • Congratulations to the Track & Field team for their finish at Live Oak yesterday. The boys' team finished in 2nd place and the girls finished 4th overall.  

  • 100 m - Dyland Breaud finished 3rd and Arielle Patterson finished 3rd.  

  • 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles - Maleik Georgetown finished 3rd place 

  • 4x100 and 4x200 relays - the boys finished in 2nd place. 

  • 4x400 relays - the boys finished in 3rd place.  

  • 4x800 relays - the girls finished in 2nd place.  

  • Shot Put - David Breaud finished in 2nd place. 

  • Pole Vault - Eli Hegwood finished in first place and Adalyn Rider finished in 3rd place.  

  • Long Jump - Jammal Asberry, Jr. finished in 3rd place  

  • High Jump - Logan Cookmeyer finished in 1st place. 

  • Triple Jump - Kameron Rheams finished in 3rd, Logan Cookmeyer finished in 3rd, and Kermit Jackson finished in 1st place. 

 

  

ALL STUDENTS:  

  • Jostens will be in the new gym lobby during all lunch shifts today to take orders. They can also give you information on how you can order a ring and make payments through their website. If you are a junior or senior and did not previously order a ring, you can still do so!!!  Visit them in the gym and find out how.  

  • Tryouts for 2027 Legacy Color Guard start next Tuesday after school in band room.  Interested students should pick up flyer at Wildcat Window or from Mr. Hirst in the band room.  

  • Students - if you are interested in being a Student Athletic Training Aide next year, click on the link posted on the WHS app under announcements or email Bryan.Hutson@lpsb.org to receive the link to the online application. All applications are due by the end of the day, Thursday, April16th!  

  • Walker High students and staff don’t miss the Wildcat Theatre Senior Show, The Bold, The Young and The Murdered! This hilarious murder-mystery comedy parody will be performed April 10th and 11th at 6:30 PM in the Wildcat Theatre, Room 210. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, and seating is limited. Come out and support our senior theatre students as they perform their final show at Walker High!  

  • DON’T GET LEFT BEHIND! ACT Test Day is almost here—Tomorrow make sure to bring- 

  • A Photo ID (Driver’s license or school ID) 

  • Your Printed ACT Admission Ticket 

  • #2 Pencils (No mechanical pencils!) 

  • An Approved Calculator (Check ACT guidelines) 

  • And Snacks & Water (for breaks) 

Be prepared! Check-in starts at 7:15 AM sharp at the annex, and you MUST be in your testing room by 8:00 AM or your test will be CANCELLED—no exceptions! 

🚨 REMEMBER: You MUST bring a printed ACT Admission Ticket. If you show up without it, you’ll be asked to step aside, and your check-in will happen AFTER everyone who brought their printed ticket. Don’t risk delays—print it NOW!
