ATHLETICS:

· Congratulations to the girls’ tennis team for their 5-0 win over Ascension Christian.

· Tonight, our Lady Cats basketball team will play at 8:00 p.m. against Ponchatoula in the Semifinals in Hammond. Tickets are $18 cash. Come out to Hammond and support your Lady Cats on Thursday!!!

· Our Softball Lady Cats will play at Brusly today at 4:30pm.

· The JV baseball team will play away at Central at 3pm.

· Good luck to the Varsity baseball team as they travel and start playing in the West Monroe tournament today.

· The boys’ basketball team will play in the Quarterfinals at home on Friday at 6:30pm against Ouachita.

· Congrats to the Lady Cat golf team for placing 3rd in the Metro Match at the Island on Tuesday, Katie Ward was a medalist, placing 5th. The Lady Cat Golf team is back in action on Tuesday at Greystone Country Club.

· The boys’ golf team will have a match today at the Torrey Pines Golf Course.

· Some of the letterman jackets ordered last December have been received. You can check in the Annex if you are waiting on a jacket.

· Any student interested in being a football manager needs to contact any of the football coaches to sign up.

The Walker High DECA Chapter was recognized at the national level for achieving THRIVE level in both the Community Service and Promotional Campaigns. The Green and White Cookie Site, operated by Walker High DECA members, was also recognized for its gold-level school-based enterprise certification.

ALL STUDENTS:

· Math tutoring this afternoon with Mrs. Albright has been cancelled. All other tutoring is still going on. Be sure to check the calendar of events on the app for tutoring opportunities.

· PJS is having a free coffee giveaway this week, visit the PJS during your lunch shift to find out how you can win!

· ACT Bootcamp today will be held in rooms 1105 and 1106 from 2:45 - 4:45 pm.

· The deadline to sign up for April 15th ACT is quickly approaching. If you are interested in taking this ACT you must sign up by March 10th at ACT.ORG.

· Students, don't forget that Online Scheduling is available through Wednesday, March 8th. All documents must be returned by Thursday, March 9th. Remember:

- After completing your online registration, print a copy of your final course selections and the student and guardian must sign and date the page.

- The student & guardian must initial & date the Individual Graduation Plan (IGP).

- Both pages (Course Requests & IGP) must be returned to the Guidance office by March 9th.

- If scheduling an AP course, turn in the signed application with your other paperwork.


· This week is FFA week. The Walker FFA Chapter was established in 1998. FFA is structured on 3 levels: local, state and national, which is led by up to 8 officers and an advisor. The most common officer positions are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Reporter, and Sentinel. Your 2022-23 officers team is: Cameryn Sibley, Madyson Hanley, Caden Rios, Brooke Becnel, Ethan LeBlanc and Molly Britt. There will be no lunch Ag Olympic activity today! As many of our Walker High FFA members go to Assumption to compete in the Bayou Region Invitational CDE competition. Remember to look for the emblems hidden on campus. If you find the cow emblem and FFA emblem, bring them to the Ag building, room 5004, to get your prize!


SENIORS:

· Seniors that are interested in working the Neighbor's Federal Credit Union for the 23-24 school year can pick up an application outside room 1014. This internship is open to seniors only and is a paid position. Applications are due March 10th.

· Aveda Arts & Sciences Institute Baton Rouge, currently has a full-paid scholarship opportunity available for your high school seniors who want to pursue a career in Cosmetology! Catwalk for Water is an annual scholarship opportunity for incoming students and allows students to showcase their creative abilities. The deadline is March 11, 2023.
