The AP Chemistry course provides students with a college-level foundation to support future advanced course work in chemistry. Students cultivate their understanding of chemistry through inquiry-based investigations, as they explore topics such as: atomic structure, intermolecular forces and bonding, chemical reactions, kinetics, thermodynamics, and equilibrium. The curriculum is compatible with many Chemistry courses in colleges and universities.
Students have the potential to earn up to Chem 1, Chem 2, and Chem Lab credit at the university level with a qualifying score on the AP exam and depending on the college/university policy. Unlike dual-enrolllment courses, AP Chemistry gives students the ability to earn "science-major" chemistry credit. Dual enrollment gives students "non-science major" chemistry credit. This does not count toward the students science requirements for any degree in a science field such as chemistry, biology, engineering, pre-med, pharmacy, nursing, etc.
Fee: $110 AP Exam Fee (Fee reduction for eligible students)
